Women in Aviation International (WAI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation and aerospace career fields and interests. Women from a wide range of professions are members: pilots, engineers, flight attendants, astronauts, maintenance technicians, students, journalists, and more.

Every spring, WAI holds a conference to connect, engage, and inspire their members. The conference includes networking opportunities, training sessions, keynote speeches, and scholarship presentations which, in 2022, included over $473,000 in scholarships.

Another key event is the Girls in Aviation Day, when girls between the ages of 8 and 17 gather to learn about aviation and have fun.

The Whirly-Girls host a booth in the WAI expo hall and hold a meeting, or "hovering," where members and friends gather to share experiences and explore networking opportunities. Whirly-Girls also participate in the Girls in Aviation Day events to help inspire the next generation of pilots.
