The Whirly-Girls is a volunteer-run organization. Your donations are greatly appreciated and are used mainly to fund two scholarships:
We also have general operating expenses associated with our educational and outreach activities, as well as our annual meeting (or hovering) at Helicopter Association International’s HELI-EXPO, the largest helicopter convention and trade show in the world. We hold our annual scholarship awards banquet at HELI-EXPO. At our annual “hovering,” usually held the day before HELI-EXPO’s exhibit hall opens, we connect with old and new friends, hold our annual business meeting, elect new board members, and often offer an educational session.
Your donations are 100% tax deductible as we are a 501(c)(3) organization. We appreciate your support in helping Whirly-Girls advance their careers as professional pilots.

In the last 15 years, the Whirly-Girls Scholarship Fund (WGSF) has been the recipient of several gifts in the form of cash and appreciated stocks. These charitable gifts have allowed the Whirly-Girls to continue to diversify our investment portfolio and expand our scholarship program.
All of these gifts constituted planned giving, meaning the donor made the organization aware that he or she intended to make the contribution at a specific time, for example upon her death or at the end of the year.
The most important consideration in charitable giving is the donor’s intent. Some donors prefer to make significant donations to a nonprofit while they are alive and can see the results of their gift. Other donors prefer to include a bequest for their favorite nonprofit charity in their wills.
Charitable gifts can be made with or without restrictions. A restricted contribution must be used only for what it was intended. An unrestricted gift of stock can be used in any manner that the Board of Directors feels is most beneficial to the organization.
Most charitable contributions come in the form of cash, but non-profits nationwide are seeing an increase in gifts of appreciated assets, which offer significant tax advantages to the donor. Individuals may also name the non-profit organization as the beneficiary of a 401(k) plan or a life insurance policy.
Most of us tend to think of large sums of money when we hear talk about planned giving, all gifts, large or small, contribute to the success and sustainability of an organization. We give to charitable causes because we care about the cause. We also give because it makes us feel like we are part of something larger than ourselves.
The Whirly-Girls Scholarship Fund, Inc., is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the District of Columbia.

The success of the Whirly-Girls Scholarship Fund relies on the support of communities, businesses and people like you. You can help by sponsoring our scholarship programs, sponsoring fundraising events, awards banquet tables or by making an unrestricted general fund tax-deductible donation to our organization.
As a sponsor, you will have a variety of ways to showcase your support for this non-profit organization and its members, which will be well-publicized and supported by substantial advertising and public relations efforts via numerous social media outlets and our printed newsletter. Our brand new website, launching in early 2017, serves as our primary vehicle to communicate our mission of advancing women in helicopter aviation through providing funding for advanced flight and ground training, mentorship through the ambassador program, and networking at major industry events around the world.
As the board of directors is made up of Whirly-Girls members, the leadership is flexible to serve the desires of the sponsor. Please review the attached structure of giving or contact our advancement liaison to create a custom sponsorship package. Email: president@whirlygirls.org
