VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Most of the Whirly-Girls annual events take place at HAI HELI-EXPO, the largest helicopter exposition in the world, usually held in the first week of March. We also have a big gathering at the Women in Aviation Conference, and at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh in July.

A Whirly-Girl is a female helicopter pilot. The one-time initial fee of $75 covers processing costs and includes assignment of a unique Whirly-Girl number and a charm. Annual dues are $50.

Female helicopter pilots who are or were members of the military receive a discount on their initial membership fee. (Note you didn't need to be a pilot in the military to be a military member of the Whirly-Girls.) Annual dues are $50.

Anyone who wants to be a member of the Whirly-Girls, but is not a female helicopter pilot, can join as an Associate member. There are 3 categories:

  • Student: A woman who hasn't yet earned her helicopter rating.
  • Industry professional: Anyone in aviation who is not a female rated helicopter pilot.
  • Industry supporter: Anyone who supports women in aviation or is interested in sponsoring flight training by donating to the Whirly-Girls Scholarship Fund.

Annual dues are $25.
