Zoom Video Conference Seminar Series: Get Out of Your Own Way and Get a Job! (Tips from a Recruiter)
Welcome to our Zoom Video Conference Seminar Series. This seminar, held on November 15, is open to our lifetime members and all active (dues current) full Whirly-Girl members — another membership benefit for our Whirly-Girls community. Don’t miss out on the continued series of industry-pertinent topics.
When: Sunday, November 15, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Central Standard Time.
Janie Foster, WG #1070, will address a range of hot topics to keep in mind when looking for an aviation job:
Janie was always fascinated with aviation as a kid, but realized later in life that flying helicopters was the way to go after a ride while on vacation in Hawaii. Several years after that fateful (and subsequently very expensive) vacation, she began flight training in the Robinson R22. Janie eventually transitioned from the corporate world to a second career in helicopter aviation, and has flown a variety of aircraft for utility, offshore, medevac/search and rescue, wildland firefighting, and logging. She holds a Rotorcraft-Helicopter Airline Transport Pilot rating.
Today she is the Aviation Recruitment Manager for Air Evac Lifeteam, responsible for resourcing and recruiting pilots in partnership with six regional directors to maintain a staff of over 600 pilots at 140 bases located in 15 states. Before joining Air Evac, Janie represented an Italian-designed medical interior system for the Airbus H145 as the Air Medical Sales Manager at Mecaer Aviation Group. Prior to Mecaer, she flew the AW139 for Era Helicopters in the Gulf of Mexico for their SAR/EMS program, as well as for crew change operations. She also worked for Evergreen Helicopters, starting in Alaska flying a BH206 and BH212 on utility and exploration projects, then later for a medevac/SAR Department of Defense contract flying a BH412 to support the U.S. Army. During her stint at Evergreen, Janie was based out of Galveston, Texas for several years, flying offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. She also had the opportunity to assist with disaster relief efforts in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Janie is a member of The Whirly-Girls, Women in Aviation International, and Helicopter Association International. She is the recipient of three scholarships awarded by the Whirly-Girls, including the Bell 206 turbine transition factory course, an instrument refresher course in the BH412 simulator sponsored by FlightSafety International, and the completion of her ATP rating with the help of the Phelan/Mullen Memorial Scholarship. Prior to Janie’s aviation career, her professional background includes corporate management, recruiting, and business consulting.
Don’t miss this opportunity to speak with an experienced pilot and recruiter about the ins and outs of hiring in the aviation industry.
