The 2025 Whirly-Girls Board of Directors election is approaching, presenting an opportunity to contribute to the leadership and growth of our organization.
Positions Up for Election
The following positions are up for election. The full descriptions of the positions from the bylaws are below.
- President: Oversees the organization’s overall operations and strategy, ensuring alignment with our mission.
- Vice President of Operations: Manages key organizational processes and events and supports smooth operations.
- Vice President of Marketing: Leads initiatives to promote Whirly-Girls and engage with the broader community.
- Vice President of Membership: Focuses on member engagement, recruitment, and retention efforts.
- Scholarship Director: Administers the scholarship program, ensuring opportunities reach deserving candidates.
- Director of Media: Manages Whirly-Girls' digital presence, including social media, website updates, and multimedia content, to promote the organization and engage members effectively.

DUTIES OF THE PRESIDENT
The President shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the corporation and shall, subject to the control of the Board of Directors, supervise and control the affairs of the corporation and the activities of the officers. She shall perform all duties incident to her office and such other duties as may be required by law, by the Articles of Incorporation, or by these Bylaws, or which may be prescribed from time-to-time by the Board of Directors. Unless another person is specifically appointed, the President shall preside at all meetings of the Board of Directors and, if this corporation has members, at all meetings of the members.Except as otherwise expressly provided by law, by the Articles of Incorporation, or by these Bylaws, she shall, in the name of the corporation, execute such deeds, mortgages, bonds, contracts, checks, or other instruments that may from time-to-time be authorized by the Board of Directors. The Board may add to, take away from, or otherwise readjust the President's duties as necessary for the smooth operation of the organization.
DUTIES OF VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS
The Vice President of Operations will be responsible for planning and coordinating all activities associated with the membership's annual business meeting. These duties shall include, but are not be limited to, securing meeting and banquet space, and negotiating and signing contracts for such space. The Board may add to, take away from, or otherwise readjust the Vice President of Operations duties as necessary for the smooth operation of the organization.
DUTIES OF THE VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING
The Vice President of Marketing shall:Be responsible for communicating the mission and ideals of the Whirly-Girls; developing and maintaining the strategic marketing plan including social media, communication, and merchandise objectives; planning and overseeing fund-raising activities; overseeing budgeting, development and distribution of printed, promotional, and marketing material; and analyzing engagement rates for events as well as online and social media activity with the goal of developing the outreach plan and increasing engagement.
She shall be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Whirly-Girls brand in all online platforms, electronic and printed materials, and merchandise.
She will coordinate the activities of the Director of Merchandise and Director of Media to complete these objectives.
The board may add to, take away from, or otherwise readjust the Vice President of Marketing duties as necessary for the smooth operation of the organization.
DUTIES OF THE VICE PRESIDENT OF MEMBERSHIP
The Vice President of Membership will be: Overseeing the processing of new members, organizing mentors, acting as a point of contact for regional hovering events, and engaging the membership. She will coordinate with the Membership Director, Auxiliary Chair, and Database Manager to ensure accurate processing and extraction of submitted membership data. She will supervise the compilation and distribution of new member interest areas as resources to the Board for potential volunteers.
Members needing mentors will contact the Vice President of Membership, who will then locate a suitable mentor for the member, preferably within close proximity.
She will then check in with the requesting member within six months to verify the member has received assistance.
Whirly-Girls and Auxiliary Members who want to plan events or meet local Whirly-Girls will contact the Vice President of Membership for information and assistance. The Vice President of Membership may call upon the Webmaster as necessary as a resource.
All Vice President of Membership tasks can be delegated with the Vice President of Membership’s approval and overall supervision.
The Board may add to, take away from, or otherwise readjust the Vice President of Membership’s duties as necessary for the smooth operation of the organization.
DUTIES OF THE SCHOLARSHIP DIRECTORS
The Scholarship Directors shall: Assist the Vice President of Scholarships in generally fulfilling the duties of administering the annual scholarships and the Directors may be assigned specific tasks to complete as requested by the Vice President of Scholarships.
The Board may add to, take away from, or otherwise readjust the Scholarship Directors’ duties as necessary for the smooth operation of the organization.
DUTIES OF THE DIRECTOR OF MEDIA
The Director of Media shall:
Be responsible for the effective and accurate communication of the organization’s mission and activities through electronic and printed media. These duties shall include, but not be limited to, overseeing budgeting, compilation, and production of the printed newsletter, The Collective Pitch; managing and disseminating official communications to include creation and distribution of organizational announcements, emails and press releases; overseeing the Social Media Committee and coordinating social media tasks; coordinating with the Webmaster to insure effective and consistent messaging and branding; and compiling and analyzing engagement rates for social media and website activity.
She will organize necessary press briefings and will submit organizational statements as required.
The board may add to, take away from, or otherwise readjust the duties of the Director of Merchandise as necessary for the smooth operation of the organization.
Voting Information
Voting will be conducted electronically and will commence on January 25, 2025. Active members will receive voting instructions via email. Whirly-Girls without valid email addresses in our database will receive ballots by mail. Detailed instructions on how to vote will be shared closer to the date.
