Completing the Garmin Aviation Online Training Course

Hey y'all, my name is Olivia Bassett, WG#2337! I recently completed the Garmin Aviation Online Training Course Scholarship, which I am very thankful to have earned in the 2024 scholarship season. 

It was very useful that I was able to work on it from home with their online program and tailor it to which system I would potentially be using. The options available were the GTN Essentials 2.0 eLearning course, the G1000H NXi Fundamentals eLearning course, and the G1000H NXi Advanced-IFR eLearning course. 

Since most of my previous flying experience, until this summer, was in the military, I chose to do the GTN Essentials as a broad overview. It was perfect for me since I could work on it in the evenings to help reinforce my knowledge of avionics in general and also work on systems I could be using in the near future. Garmin even had scenarios specific for helicopters, which was hugely beneficial! I primarily focused on the GTN 750Xi within the Essentials course. 

It was so much more advanced and yet simpler than I expected, which made me so excited at the chance to use a system like this in the future. A very big thank you to Whirly-Girls and Garmin for this opportunity. This course will be extremely helpful in my aviation career.
